Why is This Site so Plain?
- My Philosophy -

One might ask (and some have) "Why your website is so plain?" Another way to put this is
"Why is your website so ancient?" The answer can be found by thinking about the purpose of this website.
The primary purpose of this site is to display pictures (which is why the word "pictures" is part of the URL)
and to provide some basic information. With a few exceptions (such as the "zoomify" zoomable images),
it is not a site that requires two way interaction. There are no polls, no social media, no order forms
or any of the other things that might require web 2.0 interactive features. Keeping it simple also speeds
the loading of pages (not everyone has high speeds). There are no annoying, flashy (pun intended),
animations that take forever to load on these pages. Some webmasters may think flashy is cool but
too flashy is often simply an annoying ego display that makes the site less user friendly.

Old-fashioned? Perhaps, but I do not use a technology just because I can, only if it is useful.
